Description:

Simple Gifts or evidence-based kernels are a powerful way to make prevention an everyday activity in communities everywhere. Every month, trusted scientific journals publish studies about low-cost or no-cost preventive strategies. These strategies are scientifically known as behavioral kernels. They can dramatically reduce or prevent the burden of many afflictions harming our children, youth and adults. They can improve everyone's well-being. The Simple Gifts Initiative™ is about spreading kernels all across America. Here's why…

In a time of diminishing prevention resources, employing these low-cost or no-cost strategies for all groups, neighborhoods or communities is the best approach to prevention both politically and morally. Prevention must not be rationed. Our future is at stake. Participant goals:

  • Participants will apply evidence-based kernels to their own lives and work.
  • Participants develop a plan to take one kernel to a community level.
  • Participants will practice mobilizing many to join in prevention for everyone.
  • SPECIAL NOTE: An optional 7th hour might be available for further discussion with the presenter; Registration in this training additionally requests commitment to participate in post-training discussion with the presenter via email/computer about successes of applying concepts in participants' work environments.
